Maddie never expected her senior year to go this way. She never expected her parents to divorce and she definitely never expected to move to the other side of the country.

But as is her nature, she decides to see this as a new beginning away from a tragedy that defined her ever since it happened a year ago. To make things easier, she finds herself making friends as soon as she gets there, one of them being Jaden, an enigmatic boy who has his eyes set on her.

As their relationship starts to grow, they learn that secrets could be just the thing that tears them apart- and they'll have to learn how to start trusting each other if they're going to get anywhere with each other.

It was gentle and soft, something I never expected from a guy like him. He moved his right hand from my cheek to my waist, tugging me against him, and molded our bodies together. A wave of electricity went down to my core when he licked my lips. "Open your mouth, Bella." His commanding husky voice against my lips jolted my heart, and I followed his order like a slave. With no control, a moan erupted from my throat as his tongue met mine. It was barely audible, but I knew he heard it when he smiled against my lips. He swept my hair from my face to my back and gathered them in his fist. He tugged my head back, deepening the kiss, and my heart thrashed in my chest. At that moment, I didn't need drugs to know what being high felt like because his lips were enough to send me on nine clouds. Just once and I was addicted to it. If this is how being kissed feels like, then fuck, I've wasted a lot of time. ~^~^~^~ FEATURED ON: @Romance (Romantic Suspense) HIGHEST RANKINGS: #1 Goodgirl, Darkpast #2 Badboy #5 Newadult

High school was never supposed to be complicated for Emory. She's nearly halfway through her junior year, and so far, her methods of keeping her head down and her headphones in have served her well. She has decent grades, a good relationship with her dad, and her best friend by her side. What more could she ask for? Karter Westbrook--the golden boy she's been in love with since her freshman year--is the last person she expects to throw a wrench in her plans for a quiet end to the semester. When circumstances outside of their control cause their paths to cross, Emory finally gets a chance to grow closer to the boy she's spent years admiring from afar. She uncovers sides of him that she's always wanted to learn more about ... but they don't come without a price. As Emory falls deeper into the rabbit hole that is Karter's world, she begins to scratch beneath its shiny exterior, uncovering the webs of secrets and half-truths he's gotten himself tangled in. Emory's life was never supposed to be complicated. But with every day that she spends by Karter's side, it becomes more apparent that simplicity is the price she must pay for this boy. The only question is this: is Karter Westbrook worth the cost?
