Dava, or commonly known as Lady Davina, is always living in her mother's shadow. She is forced to fit into the mold of being the perfect lady. Corsets, ribbons, and bows are all she has known. But Dava has a secret that gives her a speck of freedom. Her mother however sees this secret as a disgrace. So on Dava's seventeenth birthday, her mother throws a banquet, hoping that she could find a man worthy enough for Dava to marry. That was until she met the strange man with the flint eyes.

Now, being whisked off to the castle, Dava has the opportunity of a lifetime to be free. She enters the dangerous Trials in the hopes of avenging her father. But something else lurks around, threatening to kill her at every turn. Dava must learn to overcome her fears and find the inner courage to explore to just the dangers, but also to discover her hidden past.
