The first day of school, not yet six. She sat in her chair, as excited children chattered, her arm wrapped around her twisting stomach. 

Her father's voice echoing in her head, words she didn't understand. 

When the bell rings, it's her mother that picks her up, not her father like promised. 

There are tears in her mother's tired eyes. 

Her childhood bliss crashed and burned.

And it never got better like they all promised.
