Currents

Life on The Island is a paradise: stunning landscapes, good schools, warm weather. However, the waters the surround it are known for dragging even the most confident of swimmers to their death. Every month sailors, politicians, artists and athletes alike do their part to protect their home, but tragedy can strike at any moment.

I stared down at the fast moving water, it shimmered under the sunlight, it was mesmerizing. However, with the currents, it was not ideal for swimming. This area was the best for getting away from the island quickly as the currents dragged nearly anything out to sea. Then, of course, there were the mermaids. The vile creatures that lurked in the depths of the ocean, dragging anyone who tried to swim near the island to a watery death.
