It's the 60's. Ellie and James live in Mississippi and are leading a less-than-popular life style.
Constantly Ellie hears from her parents, "Don't make friends with a nigger!" Ellie just wants to march with the darker skined crowed and not be looked at like she just killed someone. When she has a friend over she doesn't want her parents to gasp in horror and tell her to take 'that thing' else where. She wants peace.
James hears "Don't walk alone at night, boy!" He watches his back everywhere he goes. He gradguated from his highschool and wants to go to Michigan State University. A school where you might be looked at for being black and getting an education; At least you won't be snapped at or smacked on. He wants a normal life.

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!Concluida

-"Why are you crying?" What, I didn't know I was crying. -"Come on." He offers a hand to help me up. -"Stay away... from me." I get up on my own a grunt escaping my lips when I feel pain in my knees. -"Your knees!" He crouches down to look at them up close. -"Oh don't act as if you care." I look down and see he has wet hair, which is reasonable since he came out of the bathroom. *Swoop* He scoops me up, my injured knees on his left and my head rests on his right shoulder. I hitch as he picks me up. -"What do you think you're doing? Put me down this instant!" I try to wiggle out of his arms, but it's useless, he holds me tighter to his chest. He gently places me on the bed, and I sit on the edge, I instantly throw my hand to his face intending to slap him. As if it were muscle memory he blocks my hand and gently holds it. He crouches down not breaking eye contact. -"Stella, I'm... sorry. I acted out on you." I know Jacob, and that probably was hard for him to admit. -"Let me treat your knees." He places a gentle hand over my wound. ~ ~ ~ ~ Her Dad was murdered fighting for what was right, her mom didn't love her dad all that much...or her, she plans to follow her dad's footsteps even though that might lead her to death. Her parents had a planed marriage, her mom was more on the medium class while her dad was lower, that said, he needed money to help some important people and ended up marrying a women he didn't love. She has an awful opinion of men. She loved her dad, but she was still mad at him, for his decisions. A little something might happen in her life to change that perspective.Concluida

"Oh," he said, as my back hit the wooden wall. Damn it, of course. With nowhere to go, his arms locked me in between him and the wall. He stared down at me as he said, "So you're trying to piss me off?" His lips were surprisingly close to mine. No guy would ever be this close to me in real life, let alone me being able to handle it; I would've been so timid and afraid. But this was the dream world. I could speak and be as brave as I wanted to. "Yeah, I am," I said. "What are you gonna do about it?" He paused as his eyes looked between the two of mine. Then, he smirked and swiftly closed the gap between our lips. ~~ In a small town in New York, Hazel is your average quiet type. In a school full of clichés, she falls perfectly under the category of "nerd" and has her own little nerdy group of people she loves to hang around. They respect the fact that she's non-verbal. The thing that plagued her, surprisingly, is not her inability and refusal to speak, but her ability to go through anybody and everybody's dreams. This is not something she can control, nor something that's necessarily dangerous. It just happens. One second she's in darkness, the next second she happens to be in someone's dream. Blakely isn't the prettiest girl with her dark brown hair and green eyes. She doesn't catch every guys' eye. She's more of a social butterfly and doesn't care what your religion, race, or sexuality is as long as you're a decent person. Her best friend's name is Maggie. She's the kind of girl to sit and read comic books and dye her hair blue. She's not a typical covergirl but no one is. She's not afraid to be different and stand out. One Zeta stands out; Oliver. He moved here last July and joined Leadlif University. No one knows much about him other than Maggie's boyfriend; Jay. Everyone calls him Jumbo (as in Jumbo Marshmallows) because he did the chubby bunny challenge and succeeded by stuffing the whole bag in his mouth. Oliver's a guy who's smile lights up the room. (I know that sounds cliche but just bare with me). His light brown hair and hazel eyes catch every existing females' attention. So I guess you need some figuring out to do." ********* Daimen and River were both seniors at the same high school, they took some of the same classes, walked the same halls, live in fair distance from each other, but they couldn't have been more different. When high school was over River and Daimen became ghosts to each other but then years later fate decides to bring them back together. River Sparrow hates confrontation. She's jumpy, but tries to see the bright side of situations. She's quiet, soft spoken, the "teacher's pet," and keeps to herself a lot. She's a volunteer at the local animal shelter and loves one dog in particular the most. Daimen Princeston would fight in a heartbeat. He's strong, intimidating, and pretty much has people running for the hills at the very aspect of him getting angry. His devil-may-care attitude swirls around him and no one wants to get on his bad side. Of course River is afraid of him, and she has a good right to be. But when River starts to learn more of the young man everyone fears she starts to see him in a new way. After some time feelings grow stronger and she hopes she's not fallen for a murderer. Meet Adrianna Robertson the bad girl is what people call her, when she was younger her mom left her the day she was born with her controlling father. Adrianna parties and gets drunk and smokes all the time. One day she just can't stand staying with her dad for any longer and goes to her neighbor Daniel's house till her friend picks her up. She went back completely wasted and needed a place to stay for the night since her dad was on her ass about getting drunk so she stays with him. I hope you like the book, there is going to a mild amount of swearing and lots of drinking and smoking. Everything is made up beside the state they live in.
