In 1830s France, whilst the spirit of revolution is building, two women try to convince the revolutionaries (and criminals) around them to stay calm.
Amelie lives with Jean Prouvaire and Montparnasse.
A street away, her best friend Elisabeth lives in a house with Enjolras and Grantaire.
And as the fight for freedom draws ever closer, they meet up to gossip about their boys in the Café Musain.
Disclaimer: We don't own Victor Hugo's Les Mis and its characters by any stretch of the imagination. The only characters we do own are our o/cs Amelie and Elisabeth (and anyone else not in the book). But we can still gossip about it!

Secondly, the beginning of the story takes place about a year before it takes place in the musical and movie version. After the first two chapters, the picture will not be of the character narrating the story but of the other character.
