Sixteen year old Scarlett is living the dream. At least that's what everyone thinks. At first glance, It seems as though Scarlett has it all good. A big house, two seemingly phenomenol parents, and every luxury at her fingertips. In reality her life is anything but luxurious. Every night, Scarlett endures the brutal abuse of her alcoholic father. Since she was adopted from Scotland at the age of three, she constantly has a fear of being sent back into the (also abusive) foster care system. But when the unimaginable happens, Scarlett knows she has no other choice than to run away. With nothing more to lose, Scarlett embarks on a journey that takes her halfway across the world to find a safe haven with her never before met biological parents in Scotland. It's a gamble, but sometimes we need to take risks to get to where we truly belong.
