Anyone who played an instrument in their high school band knows about the 'Band Family'. I mean, you go on band trips together, have rehearsal sessions together, endure painfully long bus ride (or if you're lucky, Plane rides) together, it's a whole thing! Wether or not you actually had any band friends doesn't matter; if you're in band? you're a member of the Band Family. This book is about just that, because High school band is a big part of a lot of people's high school experience! 'Band kids' deals with band drama, friend drama, and personal drama because that's just what high school is like! 🏳️🌈 Queer and ✊🏾People of colour characters because they exist (surprise, surprise)

High school in the early 90s: it was before cell phones and social media, but the problems were the same. How do you get the guy you're interested in to notice you? What happens if you fall in love with your best friend? Why does physics class keep factoring into your love life? This novella is loosely based on my own high school experiences... but sort of an alternate version of them. You can only make one set of choices in life, so it's fun to explore what could have been - but wasn't - in fiction. Also, set in 1991-92, this is kind of a period piece now! In some ways it's a love letter to the teen books I read back in the 80s and 90s, in particular those by Ellen Conford and Paula Danzinger. I hope you enjoy it. Ever After
Having a famous rockstar as your childhood best friend isn't all that great. Carson should know since hers just so happens to be the handsome yet arrogant lead singer of the band, Ever After, named Vincent Gray and if anything, they can't stand each other. When Vincent Gray is forced to go back to his old life in Toronto after his parents has had enough with his diva-like attitude, they are hoping that he gets a reality check. Though, Vincent could care less about his attitude-- all he cares about is starting that world tour of his. Carson, on the other hand , a once aspiring musician, has her goals set on University. When she gets accepted but fails to gain a scholarship, she fears that she'll live the rest of her life working at the local diner. However, Vincent makes an offer Carson knows she cannot refuse: if Carson, the girl everybody seems to love, pretends to be Vincent's girlfriend for two months, enough for everybody to believe that he has changed, Vincent will then pay for Carson's tuition for University. Simple, right? They'll both get what they want: Vincent gets his world tour and Carson gets to go to University. Well, sometimes our plans don't go according to plan, and sometimes love can happen to two unlikely people during the unlikeliest time. A story about falling in love... Music.... Between her ultra conservative parents and the ever-swirling rumors caused by the betrayal of her ex-best friend, Jay is ready for her senior year to be over before it ever starts. On her first day, however, a chance encounter (or collision) changes the trajectory of her life. Demi is a transfer student, upset that her father's job has torn her away from the city, her boyfriend, and the life she knows. It hasn't been an easy adjustment to such a tiny, boring town, and she doesn't even have a car to get away. The first day of her senior year is going terrible, and to make matters worse, her clumsy feet have her stumbling down the stairs.
