On a beach of white sand underneath a full moon and a starry sky, a giant wave crashed on the shore and spat out a tall twenty -something year old black man who had a short afro on top of his head, and he wore a soaked hospital gown on his body. He was also missing his left arm and on his right was a laminated paper band with the name London written in cursive. Just then a giant wave crashed over him like lightning, and he got to his feet with a small yelp of surprise, and like a frightened bunny, he ran further up the beach and entered a wooded area.

His lips jerked up into a lopsided sneer as his hand snapped back to his side. The sudden movement left my back cold, as if his palm had been a source of warmth. "You've got to be kidding me!" His tone dripped with disgust. My eyes turned to questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. I brought my hand up to rub my nose, squinting at the slight pain. "What the hell." He grumbled. "I, Jay Julian, reject you as my mate." He, or Jay, said with venom lacing his voice. He quickly turned and walked down the now vacant hallway with no glance back. Rejection? What the hell was that? Was it some sort of local lingo? How did I get rejected on my first day? The first person I make eye contact with at this school rejects me. I guess that's how this school works, if the hottest boy in school rejects you, you're a nobody. If that's how this small town school worked, then I was screwed.
