Before we get into the description I just want to give a heads up that there will be some scenes where there is going to be homelessness, abuse, assault, drug/alcohol addiction, and suicide. I will be writing this in a way that if you have to skip any sections carrying these scenes you will not be lost in the story line. So that you will be able to skip the scene and still understand the story.
"Emery! wait up!" I turned around at the sound of my name and smiled when I saw my best friends Sarah, and Caleb run up to me from their lockers that were a bit farther down.
"Hey guys! I missed you!" It was Monday today and I wasn't able to see my friends or talk to them all weekend.
"I tried to message you on Sunday, but you didn't reply! What did you do this weekend?" Caleb responded while pulling me into a huge hug. I flinched as my mind went back to the previous night. I could still hear my mom yelling, and remember the cold wind as I waited for her to fall asleep. I remember the mess the house was in when I finally returned home. They can't know what is going on.
"I just had a lot of homework and catching up to do for dance stuff. I barely had time for my phone, sorry Caleb!" I laughed while hugging Caleb back. I hugged him tighter for a second, his hugs always bringing me comfort since he is one of my best friends.
"Guys lets go to class before we are late!" Sarah, rushed out as the five minute bell rang.
"Okay, okay let's go!" I chuckled and looked at them laughing together a few feet ahead. They can't know what's going on. They wouldn't understand my problems. They need me to be able to help support them.
