I was sitting by the Seine smoking when I saw her. At first, I wasn't sure. I wondered if I wasn't still in bed, lost in a beautiful dream.
How could it ever be? I shook my head and kept smoking.
But still, there she was, strolling by in a beautiful polka dot dress. I shut my eyes and tried to breathe. When I reopened them, my gaze fixed on her figure once more. I knew then I had to reach her before she vanished again. With a rapid movement of the arm, I dropped the half-smoked cigarette in the river and began to chase after her. If it was her, I couldn't afford to lose her again.
I run, and I called out her name.
She heard me and stopped. Then she turned, and I couldn't believe my eyes.
