Where do we go when we die? You may had heard that when death comes knocking at your door, your life is viewed in a "flash" before your very eyes. They say it's like a kadeloiscope full of memories. The brain will stay alive for no longer than 7 minutes and will look for ways to subdue the agony of loss by one micro-second replay of your most cherished and beloved recollections. 7 minutes and less than a second of life...or lives? It's 3:15AM on October 31st and Yoshua Macbeth has been found dead. Labeled as a suicide, Yoshua assumes that the pain has finally ended and that his death was for the best. But unbeknowst to him, his journey has only just begun. Yoshua wakes up in a place called the Elysium, a high-class no-end house that stands between the gates of life and death. The rules are simple: find the exit and you will be granted back to life. But there is catch. You won't remember anything posterior or related to your own death. You will be reborn from the moment you died. A reiteration of life. Reluctantly, Yoshua is succesful but he wakes up to find out that his unruffled ex- wife is now devoted back to him. His abusive and contumelious father claims to have helped in shaping a better life for Yoshua. And petrifying of them all is his deceased daughter is alive and well. Something is wrong. This is not the life Yoshua had previously lived. More importantly, how does he seem to remember everyone he previously had met? How does he have the same sentiments he had indulged in his past life? How is he able to remember everything? As Yoshua continues to investigate the cause and effect of his apparent death and the space between the afterlife and his own existence, long-buried secrets and painful memories begin to surface. And the truths about the world may escalate into an apocalypse where Yoshua's reality and quite possibly all of humanity is entwined into a shattering conclusion of horror, paranoia and obliteration. "She's right! She's right! I don't cut in the right spot." My hold tightens on my wrist. The red blood oozes out of my wrist. I slide up and grab my bag and run out of the bathroom. I don't care if people can see the blood I just want to get out. I race for the doors and shove through people. I earn a lot of glares and glances that read "weirdo." I ignore and push. I run to my house and lock myself in my bathroom. I don't bother closing the front door cause I don't care if people come in to kill me. I grab my razor and cut deep cuts into my arm and wrists falling into a pool of my own blood. • • • Evangeline has a great life. Friends? Check! Good grades? Check! Loving family? Check! Don't say I didn't warn you. Okay, I wrote this at the start of this year (may 2016) and I had very poor writing skills. This book hasn't been edited and the whole idea is cliche so I wouldn't recommend you read it but I'm not stopping you, either. Read at your own risk. • • • Copyright © 2017 by -moonlust.
