The wizarding world was a wreck after the second War. The Death Eater threat and Voldemort had gone, but the wizarding world was still experiencing the aftershock of society ripping apart from the seams. The Ministry of Magic was rebuilding itself, and had set out to demolish the Dark Art threats completely, tracking down all those tied to Voldemort and his motives. This process took time, and years passed before much progress was made.
All Karolin Buck wanted was to find her mum. Her parents separated shortly after she was born, and her father took her with him. However, her father's association with the Dark Arts led to his death, and Karolin was left with nothing. Finding her mother seemed like the only option to get her back on her feet as a responsible adult. What she didn't expect was how much had changed since her parents parted...
Her search led to an unlikely companionship with a boy she should loathe. The two ventured to help each other, and this is the story of their unexpected intertwining.
