everybody wants to be older. you are either too old or too young. well, im Alice,  a 16 year old who wishes she couldve taken her want back. im in the middle of grade ten and all i want is to be a kid again. i kinda have the ideal social life, almost perfect body type and to top it off im a "genius", im the one that you'd call "popular" if you went to my high school in the middle of everywhere. although i have one huge downside -

Have you ever had one of those terrible yet annoyingly pivotal moments? You know, that monumental fragment of time that flips everything you have ever known. That plot twist second that completely takes you by surprise. The one just before the storm hits and everything goes to hell. Yes? Because you see, that moment happens to be my whole damn life. It wasn't always like this though. I used to have a pretty mundane existence, happy to just get good grades and be around my friends. God I wish I could get that simplicity back, I'd never complain it was boring again. But I know I'm not going to ever get back my old life because well... I died. (Kinda) But I woke up. And I was thrilled, beyond grateful I wasn't dead. But then I realized that there was one minor detail that had changed about my reality. I was given the chance to live but it turns out I woke up as the villainess in an otome game my friend used to be obsessed with - Kingdom of freaking Hearts (I added the freaking in there for effect, it's just Kingdom of Hearts) Where, for the record, the villainess only has two possible endings 1) execution and 2) getting exiled. So Fate was like, "Don't worry, I'll save you. Here's a chance to live" and then was like "psyche, screw you. You're still going to die but I'll let you suffer a little first." So now, if only to annoy Fate by proving it wrong, I am determined to survive. I can and I will if I play by these simple rules: 1) Befriend Heroin 2) Avoid Aryn Edwards at All Costs as well as other capture targets And 3) Be the top student at the academy and become an invaluable asset to my Kingdom so I become indispensable, thus unkillable. I'm determined, stubborn, persistent and I will live passed 16. Fate made a big mistake setting me up to die. Since it threw this plot twist at me, I figure I'll return the favor. I'll be the biggest plot twist Fate never saw coming...

I see the doors of the school getting closer and closer. I speed up trying to make it in time. I reach out to grab the door handle, and right as I'm about to take my step to freedom, I hear my name being called. And I know exactly who it is. The person who makes my life miserable. The person that makes me want to die more and more each day. The one person who knows my only weaknesses. The school bully." Jessica is a 15 year old at Marino High school. She's a straight A student and she lives a normal life. Or at least she did. It all started when she was 7th grade. Her mom became MIA (missing in action). Her dad became an angry man. He thought the whole reason why Jessica's mom left, was because of Jessica. He beats her every day. And to top it all off, she gets bullied at school. Will her life ever become normal again? Or will it just keep falling apart.

He yanks my sleeve up and looks at my arm. "I thought you told me you were fine." he sighs. "Well, I lied." I roll my eyes. . . . Rose is a teenager. You would think she's a normal, crazy, party animal, teen right? No, she's the exact opposite. She once was a "normal" teenager until people at school couldn't help but, bully her, leaving her no choice to be suicidal. That is until a football player brings the brightest out of Rose and shows her life is worth living for. The main idea of this story is Cliché. The suicidal girl falls in love with a boy and they live happily ever after, right? This time it's different. Not every story ends in a Happily Ever After.

My life was not perfect, but as a kid I'd like to think it was great. I know things don't always stay the way they are since tragedy struck and now I have no one. I'm 16 and in the system, people like us don't usually get out we don't usually get looked at twice anymore, but sometimes it just happens. I'm Alexa and I don't think people like me find loving families at this age but I did. I even got a few caring friends.

My life used to be pretty boring. Everything was average. Normal family, normal looks, normal house, normal job, normal life. The only non-boring aspect of my life was my best friend which was only because she always managed to mess it up somehow. I didn't really mind much because it kept things interesting. That is until she disappeared leaving me to care for her fatherless child with nothing more than a few hundred pounds and a sorry note. She did ruin my old life. She ruined everything that I'd actually cared for. My parents hated the fact that I was 'throwing my life away' for a child that wasn't mine. Not to mention illegally. I dyed my hair blue in rebellion. My own way of saying "F*CK YOU!" ...They kicked me out shortly after. I couldn't find a decent job in the area and the rumors became so vicious that I just left and never looked back. Old life: Destroyed, unraveled, completely gone. Let's see how long my new life lasts shall we?

But more often than not, reality sinks in, and the happy ending doesn't occur. Especially in high school. The main reason I liked this book so much was because it was so real. It was a love that was destined to crumble from the start, and yet, you kept pushing your luck. We've all been there. The late night texts from your crush waking you up to talk about nothing, the unexpected butterflies when you see him, the gross flaws he possess that you don't seem to notice, or the small things he does that turn you on. Most importantly, we learn that love truly is blind. We're unobservant to the world around us when our teenage love obsession is staring down at us with those big, brown, adorable eyes of theirs. And then when we wake up from this dream-like state that is a first love, we realize that he's not this perfect, older, mature man... but this boy."
