But what if Kenric didn't die in the flames? He promised to Oralie that they would be together, and he is a man of his word.

However, fire isn't the only enemy. They must disappear from the hawking eyes of the Neverseen, and even fight against their own society in order leave their life of Councillors behind. After that is all over, will they still have love left?

PREVIEW:

Then she heard a knock.

Followed by a bunch more, until her house was filled with the clattering of knocking; desperate knocking that eventually slurred down, but didn't stop.

Oralie whipped herself away from her nightmare-etched thoughts, her eyebrows burrowing in confusion. Clad in soft, rose-colored nightgown, she hustled from her chair and to the door, her eyes scanning through the window curiously.

But then her eyes widened, for it wasn't who she thought it was. It was a man. With red hair littered with dust and soot.

Oralie felt like she got punched in the gut. Her body shivered so badly she nearly toppled over, but she grasped her door's handle and stabilized herself against the migraine that was cutting her brain into a zillion pieces.

No. No it couldn't be, she thought.

Exhilarated, baffled, and petrified for her life, Oralie turned the handle.

The door hit the wall with a clang. Oralie gasped in sharply as she examined a man, covered in burns, leaning against her front porch's railing heavily.

"Kenric?" she breathed, unable to trust the world anymore.

He gave her a tired, lopsided grin. "Miss me?"

Then he crumpled to the ground.

Prologue "Not all heartbreaks come from betrayal. Some grow from choices made in silence." They were happy once. Truly. Stupidly. Brilliantly happy. After the rivalry, the tension, the guarded hearts-Lingling and Orm had found each other. Two doctors, one heart. They stood in the dawn light outside the hospital, palms pressed, quiet smiles blooming. And for years, they made it work. Lingling soared in internal medicine-panels, journals, awards. Orm, ever proud, filmed her behind the scenes, smitten and steady. They shared shift schedules, socks, even toothbrushes. Fans adored their chemistry-Orm's teasing, Lingling's glares that always ended in a blush. But slowly, life crept in. Lingling picked rounds over date nights, grant proposals over cuddles. She missed anniversaries. Ignored Orm's soft pleas to rest, to breathe, to be there. Not out of malice. Just... neglect. Lingling believed love would hold on its own. But Orm was tired of holding it alone. "I miss us," Orm said once while Lingling typed away. "You never look at me the way you look at your career." Lingling didn't flinch. "My work matters." "And I don't?" Orm whispered. She didn't say no. She said nothing. That silence became a wound. Orm stopped filming at home. Stopped asking. Stopped hoping for a space in a life Lingling was building without her. Until one night, suitcase in hand, Orm stood by the door. "Do you even see me anymore, Ling?" Lingling didn't look up. That was all she needed. She left-no slammed doors, no last plea. Just a note on the fridge: "You chose your calling. I just wish you made room for me in it. - O." Lingling came home late. Read the note under harsh fluorescent light. And for the first time in years, she realized- She'd won every award. But lost her heart. Cross My Heart, Suture Yours: CODE RED

*This is a revised version of Roommates With The Party Boy. I did not do justice to Gianni and Camilla, so please enjoy and don't judge my first version too harshly :P* "I-I guess you can't choose your roommate when you apply so late," I say with a nervous laugh, my hand coming up to hold my own arm to comfort myself out of this awkward moment. One eyebrow quirks up, his smirk still not faltering-if anything, it was growing. "Yeah, I guess that's true. Hopefully you don't mind me bringing girls around here often." My blood runs cold as his words make their way through my brain. I take a small step back, suddenly feeling my body closing the front door to the unit. Closing off my means of escape from this nightmare. I guess there was always the balcony. "W-what?" He takes a few steps closer to me. His eyes were twinkling with amusement. "Cause you can't choose your roommate, and I ain't going anywhere, roomie." >>> Camilla came to Penbook college to start over. She is desperate to finally escape her past and carve out her own future, keep her father safe, and prove to herself she won't let her past define her. The plan? Stay quiet, stay focused, and avoid anything that could complicate things. What could go wrong? Then she met Gianni Mancini. Maddeningly attractive and dangerous in all the right ways, and hiding more than he lets on, Gianni was a factor Camilla didn't bank on, especially when he slept across the hallway from her and slept with anything that had two legs. She learns too much too quickly and is sucked into a world she was trying to avoid. His world. Faced with the temptation of funding for her father's care , Camilla makes a deal with the devil and agrees to keep an eye on Gianni. She's told to watch him, to get him back on track in his father's drug empire, but what happens when she get's too close? Carefully-drawn lines begin to blur.

He towers over me, smoke curling from his lips like a warning. Eyes like molten gold fix on mine, and suddenly the night feels too still. Too quiet. "Give it back," he growls. I tighten my grip on the gemstone in my palm - the one I bled for, the one I nearly died for. "No." His nostrils flare. "You don't understand what you've stolen." I lift my chin. My heart's a thunderstorm in my chest, but my voice doesn't shake. "Then make me understand." ────•⋅⊰༻♥༺⊱⋅•───── They told me dragons were dead. Burned out of the sky. Hunted to extinction. Just another story parents whispered to scare their kids at night. They never said one might still be alive-trapped inside a soul-bound gemstone hidden in the heart of a cursed ruin. They never said I'd be the idiot to steal it. Now he's awake. And he's furious. Kael is everything the legends warned us about: dangerous, ancient, and utterly untouchable. But he's also chained to me by something deeper than fate-something neither of us understand. I can feel him. Not just near me. Inside me. And the worst part? He's not the only one who's noticed the jewel is no longer sleeping. There are others hunting us. Some want the dragon dead. Some want him alive. All of them want me out of the way. I didn't ask for this. I don't want magic. I don't want war. And I definitely don't want to care about the broken, furious prince with fire in his veins and a name like thunder. But fate has a cruel sense of humor. And I think I might be falling for the fire.

#13 in kotlc She only smiled up at him wading out deeper into the water. "I'm gonna go deeper than you," she teased. "In the water, or in our relationship?" He flirted back, taking after her. Sophie didn't think before she spoke. "Maybe both," she blurted, feeling her cheeks grow hot. Covering up her embarrassment although he could feel it anyway, she went deeper, only her toe tips touching the sand. [This book is PG-13 tho, I promise] --------------------------------------------- Matchmaker scrolls arrive just in time, and Sophie has the most difficult decision to make. Keefe and Fitz are two of her favorite guys around. Whatever she chooses, she is going to hurt at least one of them. ----------------------------------------------- Almost all of the characters belong to Shannon Messenger's Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Please don't plagiarize. I have to say that this does include more Sokeefe than Sophitz. "Why don't you understand, Mr. Agnihothri?" The words were torn from my throat, raw and desperate. "I am not the one who is made for love. Don't try to heal me, Shiv. I'm telling you, you will only break yourself in that process," I screamed, the sound catching and splintering with a deep, shaky breath. But the expected anger, the frustrated retreat, never came. Instead, his gaze-intense, impossibly tender-met mine, and a small, maddeningly serene smile touched the corner of his lips. It was a silent challenge, a soft denial that made the fragile control I held on my sanity begin to crumble. "Let's stop this here, please," I whispered, the desperate plea barely audible, the fight draining from me. "You deserve someone whole, someone pure, not a shattered, half-broken glass doll like me." The confession was an admission of defeat, and a single, traitorous tear-hot and heavy-escaped the dam of my composure, tracing a path down my cheek. Something fractured in his placid facade. The smile vanished, replaced by a sudden, fierce darkness. He shut his eyes, his jaw clenching as he inhaled a deep, steadying breath, a visible battle raging to master a sudden, barely contained fury. Then, in a single, predatory movement, he erased the space between us. He captured my shoulders, his grip not cruel, but intensely demanding, and pushed me firmly back against the cool, unforgiving drywall. The sudden pressure was intoxicating, trapping me between the solid surface and his unyielding body. Slowly, deliberately, he leaned in, his intent palpable, until his mouth was almost touching my ear. "Saanvi," his voice was a low, resonant rumble, a silken promise laced with a dangerous possessiveness, "Even the breath I take when you are near me is elixir (Amrit) for my soul." His lips brushed my skin as he spoke the last word, the sheer intimacy of the contact sending a wildfire racing through my veins and igniting my heart into an uncontrollable inferno.
