How should we respond when an Evangelical Christian scientist publishes a book that posits the existence of evolving human beings (i.e. the view of evolutionary science) outside the Garden of Eden as God created Adam & Eve (the traditional understanding of Genesis)?

How does the author justify and reconcile the presence of human beings that were evolving along with the traditional Adam & Eve as understood from Genesis?
