Lady Laurel is being forced to marry against her will. She cares nothing for her suitor and longs for a marriage founded in romance like she's read about in books. When Giants come down from the North, everything Laurel has known is in jeopardy and she runs to Queen Swanwhite for help. On their quest to drive the Giants back to the North, Laurel meets kind and dashing Thasian and partakes in an adventure she's not sure she's ready for. Queen Swanwhite feels a sisterly devotion to young Laurel Devonte. When Laurel comes to Swanwhite pleading for help against a new threat in Narnia, Swanwhite and her newly appointed general are faced with difficult decisions and shadows of their past. Swanwhite must determine a way to keep Narnia safe while avoiding an unpleasant encounter with Giants.
