This is the original form of the book. It weaves together books 1 and 2. I later separated them by time period to make each individual book a little shorter. But personally, I meant for the stories to be told in parallel. I think it adds a lot to the overall concept and understanding and entertainment value.All Rights Reserved

Wormholes and Wanderlust by MisterCantaloupe

This story follows the young prodigy Grant Alan, a scholar turned telekinetic, surviving in a strange new world after the colossal science vessel, the Halfpace, passes into a future very foreign to him, populated by anthropomorphic creatures that have dominated humanity after a planet-wide war. To ultimately find out what happened to the last vestiges of humanity, Grant must use his wits, friendships and newfound power to navigate this new and dangerous world while an ancient, malevolent force slowly corrupts its new anthro leaders. I wrote this because I was partly inspired by "A Man In A Beast's World" by @GhillieCamo. Admittedly, my head was kind of in two places when writing this. Part of me wanted to create this really thoughtful, slow-burning, thriller sci-fi story experience with lots of lore and things to mull over, and the other half wanted to make a human x anthro romance story, dripping with provocative scenes, dialogue and drama. I'd say the story has both, but more of the former, which I think is ultimately better than if it was the other way around. I don't claim to be the best, or even good, at storytelling, and there are definitely a couple issues I have in my story, but people have been telling me they really like this story. As of 12/29/2024, this story does not violate any of Wattpad's Terms Of Service/Content Guidelines; All characters depicted in sex scenes are consenting adults. (edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Although not technically fan fiction, there is a nod to Final Fantasy games. The cover photo is a shared copyright, Brian Barbour took the photo, I added treatments.

In the words of a great philosopher; there is no limit to the gruesome and grotesque things we are willing to do in the name of survival. While reading this; Remember that not everything is as it seems. Remember that loved characters will die. Remember that the world will gradually get worse as the parts go on. Take a moment to ask yourselves these questions: What would you do in the name of survival? Would you steal to survive? Would you kill to survive? Would you lose your mind to survive? If you lost your mind, do you think you'd kill more, steal, injure, backstab, rape or any other atrocity you can think of? If you can think of it, then maybe you would. The characters and situations in this book are very real, if gore or horrific mental images scare you, then I wouldn't recommend reading far. DESCRIPTION: The Infection claimed the lives of over 3 billion people before the TV's went off. But it would claim many more. The problem didn't arise when those people got up and started walking again, or even when they started eating and infecting others, it began when people got desperate. In this new world, the true evil that humans are capable of gradually becomes more apparent, and a part of everyday life. Normality doesn't exist, people don't help other people. Friends aren't a thing anymore. All anyone truly has is themselves, and the burdens they carry.
