"Can we stay like this forever?" He knew the answer, he just didn't accept it. She sighed while rolling away from his grasp to look him in the face. Her normally joyful eyes were droopy with acceptance of what must happen. Marigold didn't like having this conversation with him over and over again, but he would never understand that fate had different plans for their summer fling.
"You know the answer. I wish we could but in a few weeks I'm leaving. I can't change that fact even if I wanted to." The look on his face shot pain into her chest. Her plan was never to hurt him, but here she was, ripping out the heart of the man she had grown so close to.
