They say everyone finds true love, just like in the story books; Cinderella found her prince, snow white found her dwarfs and Fiona found her Shrek (Okay so this prince is green, so what girls these days are orange – jeez!) But you get the picture.
Ever since I was a little girl my dad read these stories to me and ever since I wanted a prince to one day sweep me off my feet and carry me into the sunset. But according to my best friend this is real life and there's no such thing as fairytales, I tried to persuade her that it could happen but Jessica being Jessica insisted she was right. But I still have hope!

Everything I've always dreamt of was a fairytale type of romance. Everything I've ever wanted was to find my prince charming, one who buys me flowers and chocolates. Everything I've silently prayed for was for a hand to pull me from the suffocation torment I was drawing in. And my heart thought I've found all that since the first time I saw 𝐉𝐚𝐱𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡; the most beautiful guy that made my heart flutter. But everything I thought I knew about love was wrong. She meets a guy--probably the most popular guy in school (and hey, why not make him British while we're at it?). He's most likely very handsome and just as rich, and magically seems to understand her. It feels like they've known each other forever when in fact they've actually just met. It's love at first sight, the guy saves the girl from whatever misery she's in, they meet only two or three problems along the way, and then it's happily ever after. But this isn't a fairytale. When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales. I believed in princes and princesses and knights in shining armor. I believed in forever and happily ever afters. I was ten when reality hit me. My mom brought the evil home with her and there was no escaping it. That's when I learned that fairy tales were just that: fairy tales. The bad stuff is real, though. The difference is that I now know that the monsters and evil villains don't always wear capes and ugly scars. No: most of the time, they appear normal. I'm drowning in reality, in my life, and I've given up hope that a knight in shining armor will rescue me. But maybe... maybe I don't need a Prince Charming after all.
