Former S.S.R. Agent Verity Watts fought alongside Peggy Carter, Captain America, and the 107'th Infantry during the war. They became very good friends.
When the war ended, she was fired from the S.S.R. because her services were 'no longer required.' She is still incredibly good friends with Peggy and is informed of the goings-on at the office.
When Howard Stark is deemed, "A Traitor and Fugitive from Justice," and he asks for Verity and Peggy's help, she jumps at the opportunity to be working again. It is a very dangerous and daunting task though.
But with Peggy and Mr. Jarvis by her side, what could go wrong? Right?
