This used to be a free country. At least that's what my dad used to say, but that was before they burned him at the stakes. Or cut his head off. We don't really know what they did to him, we only know that one day he didn't come home. Since dad disappeared I've noticed that the guards and patrols keep an extra eye out for my family. I loved my father, I still love him I guess, but he wasn't perfect and he made some big mistakes.

I have forgotten what it feels like to be free. To have a voice. I can't say anything, or else they might catch me. My parents would never forgive me. I'll be arrested. Maybe even killed.
