You may have heard a lot about Shinigamis, but that one really existed couldn't cross Kiritos mind, even when one of them were standing right in front of his eyes, telling he is going to die soon.
But someone who has such a strong will to keep on living, no matter how hopeless it seems, could even touch the nonexistent heart of death itself who just wanted to get over it.
