Surviving can be difficult when you're only a few inches tall. Fanged beasts see you as their prey, every creature is bigger than you, and the world seems to work against small things. Not to mention the struggles of getting from place to place... but the worst of it all? Humans. 

Once a year, every year, summer sweeps over the forest. The sun warms the leaves and the damp melts away until the world of the Winged flourishes. Those warm months are when survival becomes the hardest.
Drawn by the beauty of the forest, humans of all kind invade the already dangerous home of the small Winged people. Fear of these monsters is shared throughout the tribes. One sacred piece of advice is known: avoid humans at all costs. They know only how to destroy and hurt.

Despite the protests of her close friend, Azure accepts a mission that takes her from the safety of her tribe. Things begin well despite her trepidation of the approaching summer months. That is, until she falls right into the hands of the very creatures she feared.

In the Base, the humans are separated into three groups; the Service, the Watchers and the Venturers. It is the Service's job to cook, what little food they have, and to heal the injured and sick. It is the Watcher's job to hide in the trees and scan the clearing, that lies before the forest's border, for monsters on the Venture days. It is the Venturers job to leave the forest borders on Venture days, and run into desolate cities to steal food, bedding and supplies that they need to survive. There is only one rule; never get caught. Venturer Dawn finds herself in a dangerous situation when she breaks the one rule. Dawn is caught by a monster, and not just any monster, but a monster who works as a Protector for their kind. As the sunset gifted by the Dream Weaver extended itself upon the five territories of the wolves, the pulse of the earth was easily felt as if a giant heart was beating in the deep rock of the cliffs on the Indian Ocean's coastline, stretching upon miles and arriving at the center of the small island thriving beside the border of America. The strong orange light brushed the fur of the creatures known as the wolves, who haunted the mountains with the crying howls of sorrow. Those of them asked to guard the border quickly scanned the perimiter of their huge amount of land with great efficiency, as their large amber brown eyes were able to see large patches of forest and mountain extending along their home. The expanding rumours are becoming threatening... The humans would try and attack the wolves ruthlessly, destroying anything in their path- biggest meadow to smallest toadstool. All the wolves could do is hope that they would not spill as much blood as other packs have in the past, creating chaos between their trinity: the Lhight, the Spirits and the Dream Weaver. They couldn't let that happen again... who has the guts to venture out and find out what the humans are planning? Join Thunder, as he embarks on the quest to seek out how the humans have been obliterating nature so effortlessly. The safe refuge everyone around her calls 'home' feels like a prison to her- so when she learns that there are other tribes somewhere in the forest, the decision to leave is hardly a choice. She makes it her mission to search the woodlands and bring the lost tribes together. But to do that, she'll have to leave her own tribe behind... which means leaving the people she loves most in the world. The forest is rife with predators. Beasts like humans; towering beasts that prowl through the trees without care or concern for the life they might trample. Leaving might just turn out to be a suicide mission. This story really starts in the middle. Ari, who often goes by A, is propped up against a tree in the middle of a forest with a dagger in her stomach. She's lost a lot of blood already, and she keeps losing more. Helios is kneeling next to her, and they're both trying to figure out what to do. I'll start at the beginning, though. Ari is a wanderer, traveller, adventurer, and lots of other things. She doesn't have a home, until one day she does. She's chased into the Akiire territory by the Akiire's enemies; the Tesera. Luckily for her, the chief of the Akiire tribe takes her in. Akiire medicine men and women fuss over her until they're sure she's safe. Then the Akiire initate her as a member of their tribe. She gladly accepts. She's started to like it there, after all. Then Helios starts talking to her. He's nothing special in the tribe. He's a good warrior, but all the warriors are good. The bad ones have already died. Nonetheless, by the time we get to the forest with the dagger and all that, A has only spoken to Helios a few times. Now he's her only way to stay alive.
