Michael and Ryan are struggling to live the life they want to. Will either of them survive? This is a short story I wrote for my advanced English class in eighth grade. It's not my best work, but I keep it on here for nostalgia's sake. It is written in a style utilized in the short story "Currents" by Hannah Bottomy Voskuil. Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. "Why do bad things happen to good people?" {Disclaimer: Needs major editing and possible chapter rewrites... I'll get to it eventually.} Erika Thomson thought this day would never come. Going back to the Wheeler's house. The worst possible place to be. Back when Erika was an infant she used to go with her father and mother every summer there but when she was ten when her mom had passed from breast cancer she never went again. She liked not going to the Wheelers, especially the Wheeler boys (thirteen in all) because they always picked on her. Her father and her struggled with the difference in the house and five years after her mother's death her father began to change and to go crazy. Erika was forced to live with the Wheeler's again because her father couldn't take care of her anymore. Five years from not seeing them she's forced to live with them until she turns eighteen. He knows his criminal past and time in jail doesn't make him good enough for her but he can't keep his mind off of her. Being around her 24/7 doesn't help. Their relationship blossoms, but someone has been watching them, and is hell bent on ending their little romance. Even if it means kidnapping Abby. My breath catches in my throat as I pull at the hoodie that covered his chiselled body. Understanding, Jacob pulls it off in one swift movement before attaching his lips back on my neck. Sucking and biting it before flicking his tongue over the sore spot. A quiet moan leaves my mouth and I clasp my hand over it, denying any noise to escape. "You drive me fucking crazy, Aria." ---------------------------- Aria Bailey finds it hard to fit in. Her parents are always busy and never have time for her. She lives alone at her family home and has top grades in all of her classes. But being a 17 year old friendless nerd comes with its disadvantages. Aria learns more about popular boy, Jacob Rickson and starts developing feelings for the well known 18 year old. Jacob helps her come out of her shell and learn to be more comfortable and confident. Sometimes, I'm not always sure what to do. I feel like I'm always wrong, like I'm never good enough. I'm invisible and it's as if I don't exist. If I really didn't exist, I don't think anyone would care. I'm all alone in this great big world, I'm lost. Maddie has never been good enough for anyone. Her perfect sister, Megan, always manages to outshine her. Her father never pays attention to her, because he's always worried about Megan. Every Tuesday and Thursday, Maddie goes to group therapy, where she shares her feelings. Every week it's the same thing, until Maddie gets a new lab partner: Zach Williams, every girl's dream date. WARNING: I wrote this book when I was really, really young. It is very poorly written and has a TON of grammatical errors. I'm working on editing/rewriting this.
