My Father
There is so much contribution of my father in my life, that I may not be able to express it in words.
During my childhood, I was very fond of playing cricket. Not only cricket, but I also used to remain occupied in playing carom board, cards and other types of games.
Perhaps my father understood that if I remain so busy playing games, I would not be able to do well in my studies. He wanted me to play games, but that should not be a hindrance to my studies. So, one day he called me and said 'If you stand first in this year's exam, I will buy you a new bat,'
Since then, I started studying with great enthusiasm and stood first that year.
Securing the first rank in a lesser known village school was not much of a big achievement, but that day, my father motivated me to believe that, if I try hard, I can secure the first rank. From that day, my confidence improved to a great extent.
In later years, I realized that it is not possible for me to pursue a career in sports. So, I started concentrating on my studies more.
But, if my father forced me to leave sports and focus on studies, then I would have been suffering from depression.
