Sixteen year old Mimi Alston has company - no less than three ghosts. Only she can see them, so she's earned herself a nickname: Mimi-and-her-imaginary-friends.

On the advice of Mimi's shrink, her parents move her to a school that's a catch-all for 'unique' kids. She makes some new friends, determined to hide her secret and make a fresh start. Gorgeous, troubled Goth-boy Drew is a great distraction.

But there's more to her new friends than Mimi thought. They've been waiting for her. Mimi is the seventh.
