"I would scream but I have a headache from crying my eyes out in the bathroom. You have twenty seconds to explain why you broke into my house before I expose you to the wrath of my mother," I divulged, taking a seat at my dresser. "And trust me, she's scarier than any police out there."

"You find a complete stranger you know is trained to take down men twice your size in your bed and that's the reaction you're going with?" he asked.

My eyes met his through the mirror of the dresser.

"Twelve seconds."

If Avyanna was asked to describe herself in two words, she'd laugh and say she only needed one; perfect.

She was the perfect child with no bad records whatsoever until Ian followed her home from an illegal fighting ring, climbed in her window and insinuated himself into her life. Icing on the cake, he just so happened to be an actual criminal. Oh, and did she mention her dad was a cop?

Needless to say, she was going to kill Olly for making her go to the fighting ring to begin with.

Shall we do an experiment? Hear me out: an enemies-to-lovers where love is complicated but never toxic. Where the female lead knows what she wants and takes it. Where the male lead doesn't growl, rage or slam her into walls. A journey with all the angst, secrets, spice and heartbreak of dark romance without the abuse. Are you ready? ******************************************** It's 1984, Queen on the radio and rage in the streets. Moira Bourne, stretched thin between her nanny job, family drama and university classes, fights for the recognition she deserves. Evander Ward, fresh from a gap year in Europe and eager to prove himself, is ready for redemption. Two people whose paths were never meant to cross. When they do, the collision blows their life to smithereens. ******************************************** "Pass the tea, will you?". It came over me - it being it all, the shame, the anger, the sense of injustice and the nine hours I hadn't slept the night before. Those, maybe, more than anything else, because I reached for said tea and, possessed by that mighty cocktail of resentment, spat in it. I did so making sure he could see it, he could hear it. Then I passed it over to him and waited. His smile, at this point, had turned overjoyed, putting the previous ones to shame, revealing their graft. He had received the answer he was hoping for. He took the cup and chugged it down. Looked me straight in the eye and drunk it all. ******************************************** Fair warning: mentions of racism, ED, assault, sexism, and classism ahead. You know where your limits lie. "I can show how much of a 'little' guy I am." He said emphasizing the little. He came closer to me. Our lips were inches away. I could smell the scent of his cologne definitely not cheap. My breathing became uneven. "What's wrong princess? Cat got your tongue" He stroked my cheek. I leaned into his touch but he removed it. He pulled away grabbing another glass. I let out a breath. I turned around. Guess I have to do this the hard way. I leaned near to his ear. He tensed. "Teasing me is only making me wet. Imagine you inside me. Screaming your name. I guess you don't want that." I said seductively. I kissed his ear. I walked toward the hallway by the bar leading to different rooms. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Adelina Madden is a 28-year-old who got fired from her job. "I knew if I wanted a relationship, I should find someone else. But I didn't want anyone else and I still don't." I managed to take his arm from around my waist without waking him up. Sighing with relief I was about to move closer to the edge of the bed but he grabbed me again, muttering something in his half asleep state. I tried to release his grip again but he woke up, grinning as soon as he seen me. His sleepy blue eyes looked at me. "Where are you going?" his grin widened. "I have to go." I whispered quietly, looking around the room. I really did have to go, I was supposed to be staying away from him wasn't I? The sun hadn't come up yet, it was still in the early hours of the morning. "Don't go." He groaned, pulling me in closer and squeezed my waist. I could sense his smile as he kissed my forehead. I didn't know what to do, his arms were more than inviting and I really didn't need a lot of convincing but I was starting to get tired of this secret thing again. Sure, Eric and I got along great, I really enjoyed his company but was it really worth lying to everyone about? *************** What happens when wallflower Florence and jock Eric decide to keep what's between them a secret? Can Florence really not get herself too attached and keep herself from getting hurt? The two are keeping some secrets of their own too, will they ever be discovered? As time goes by, it becomes harder and harder to hide it all, will they eventually crack?
