Shara "Sparrow" Shaman is a young girl who lives in the dystopian country, Indigena. Fed up with seeing her people suffer, Sparrow, who is the clan leaders daughter, proposes they make a trip to see the Thrives and demand for equality and freedom. But this meeting takes a turn for the worst when Sparrow disrespects the Prince of the Thrives, Theodore Chambers. Her father is then forced to make a decision that will change her life forever. And when war breaks out, no one is prepared for what happens next.
