This is a sci-fi short story I wrote a couple of years ago. It's set in the Battletech universe, thus technically making it fan-faction, but all characters and events are unique to the story. It also exists as an audiobook generated using Amazon Polly. It sounds surprisingly good for text-to-speech. PM me if you're interested :-)

Godslayers is about correcting a mistake. A mistake made by three kid geniuses who inherited a Corporate Technology Empire. They attempt to utilize Dark Tech to change the world with a new generation of technologies. Most important of all this new tech was a clean, efficient and totally renewable source of energy given freely to the world, an attempt to usher Earth into a golden age. They never asked their selves if the world was ready. Battle after battle that claimed nations, oceans and a third of the world's population within one year. By the second year, only three factions remained, political amalgams of financial, military and technological interests. High casualty and destructive rates refined combat, and Dark Tech's emerging technologies- unbridled by energy restrictions- were corrupted into a new version of warfare. The BADB Frames took over the battlefield. Exoskeletal marvels- walking tanks. These suits made the soldiers of the future nearly invincible, while giving them destructive abilities of such raw power and precision that conflict was forever altered. The pilots of these suits were almost all pulled from a previously untapped civilian resource: gamers. Suddenly, age was not a restriction. What's left of Dark Tech exists in three Neutral Zones spread throughout the globe. Three "war free" zones that house civilians who wish to remain outside the war. But a shadow beneath what's left of the world's political system upsets this balance and a secret group known only as The Keepers push the factions past their fear of Dark Tech and into the zones of neutrality. Dark Tech unleashes a new faction on the world- a fighting force that has taken high technology and martial skill to a new level. A group of warrior monk gamers that once again change the face of battle and square off against the faction's armies single-handedly.

(Y/N) was just a simple 17 year old girl who had lost her parents when she was young. All she had left was her brother, and after he disappeared, she didn't really know what to do. She eventually got kicked out of the Galaxy Garrison and was all alone. That is, until she met him. She didn't think she'd fall for Keith, and she especially didn't think he'd fall for her. He was her best friend, and her brother's best friend at that. She never thought her life would be filled with such sadness, loneliness, happiness, love, friendship, or aliens. Especially not aliens. And definitely not giant robotic lions. Preview: It's been a year. One year exactly since he disappeared on the Kerberos mission. Takashi was the only family I had left. Mom and dad were gone so it was either he takes care of me or he sticks me in a home somewhere. He chose to take care of me, and I couldn't have asked for a better brother. (Y/N) Your name Hey! This is my first story so sorry if it's a bit cheesy etc, but I just wanted to thank you for even giving it a shot! This is a Voltron Legendary Defender fanfiction where you and Keith get to hit it off. (I'll try to keep it as close to the actual story line of the show as possible, and I'm sorry that the chapters are a bit long. Trust me though, they're worth the read.) Enjoy! I don't own Voltron or any of the characters, pictures, and most of the dialogue. Credit goes to Dreamworks, Voltron Legendary Defender, and the fans who created the amazing fan art. #1 for Paladin (6/18/21) #35 for Takashishirogane (8/20/21) #4 for Blacklion (8/20/21)

She's always been sure of her abilities and her unit, until the day the enemy takes her mech down. Now, a prisoner of the Uu'k'asht, her future is unknown and she doesn't know what the next day will bring. She thought they would kill her, publicly execute her, torture her. But the Uu'k'asht seem to have other plans. Ahnekk is just as surprised as anyone when one of the huge metal mech's his battalion is fighting spits out a diminutive, slime-covered creature, that then proceeds to continue killing on the battlefield despite being seemingly helpless. No one has ever actually seen a human before. Only their killing machines. But he does know one thing: This prisoner will turn the tides of war.
