Having a job during high school is never easy to keep up with, but Anna's job isn't like any other. When the school bell rings, she and her closest friends are off protecting some part of the world. Taking her herself way too seriously, she overworks herself all the time, never really letting loose and having fun.

It's the end of the year, and Anna's ended with a bang. It seems like it's gonna start with one too. A new boy, her best friend's cousin is starting at her school. He caught her attention the moment he called her short. She also found out that they're gonna be spending a lot more time together, outside school.

But it gets better... A new 'mission' opens up a part of her past even when it wasn't closed in the first place. After going through so much over the years, will this be her breaking point? How much more can she take until she's had enough?

It's never easy being the person everyone runs to when they have a problem. Here, Anna Radcliffe learns how to make new friends, accept family, find love, and most importantly, discover herself.

"I love how this book is turning out!😍 Not cliche at all!" - i_hatecliche "We might live next door to each other," Haley said, "but we don't live in the same world." Hooking her fingers around her backpack straps, she walked away from Jace. She had barely gone a few steps before he was at her side again. "What makes you believe we don't live in the same world?" he asked. "As far as I can tell, we do." "No, we don't. I'm...me and you're Jace Cortez. The dream of every girl. The friend to every guy. The star of the school. Girls. Sports. You're the ultimate player." "It sounds like you have a preconceived notion of who I am." "And it's one that has yet to be proven wrong." From books and a lifetime of sitting on the sidelines, Haley is convinced she knows how the world works, specifically high school. Everyone has a label and a box they fit in. This knowledge, paired with parents who are fighting, a brother leaving soon for college and a best friend who moved away has made her decide to never get involved. It will take being forced to work with her fellow juniors on a project, a boy next door with a infectious smile, a star gazer with an adorable puppy, and an unlikely pair of fangirls to make her see how truly wrong she was about everything. "IT'S NOT CLICHÉ!!!" - Moria987 "This is the reason y I keep coming back to this book...It's simply a breathtaking journey" - mariyamsajorawala "I don't usually comment but this is one of the best books I've read here. I love the fact that it's realistic and focuses on things that really hinder human interaction, perceptions and stereotypes." - yurfavegal "just gets better and better. How are all your characters 3D! Like this writing is so beautiful" - CrazyStarChick "Reading it for the second time, and the book still brings a smile to my face 😆" - grumpymood "She's practically Carter's twin 😂😂" - Guardian_21 #1 Breakingcliches #1 Arrogant #6 in Teen Romance

[Highest Rank: #328] Anna's a normal girl. Well, at least she wishes she was. She watched her parents die in front of her when she was eight years old. Ten years later, she's lived her life in ignorance, attempting to regain the childhood innocence that was once lost. She only wishes to live normally ... like any other teen girl. Of course, it's hard when people keep looking at her with those pitying eyes. The only thing she's retained from her trauma is a mild fear of congested social occasions and occasional nightmares. Otherwise, she's just your typical, straight-A, quirky girl who lives with her neighbors and crushes on her adoptive brother. Okay, maybe she ISN'T that normal. But one thing's for sure. Her life is flipped inside-out once she runs into the school's notorious troublemaker, who has just as much of a dark past as she does. She just wants to be friends. He just wants to avoid her. [Mild use of foul language. You have been warned.] [Other stories: Give Her a Life] Cover and multimedia made through Canva. Picture does not belong to me. (If you're curious, the girl on the cover is Black Pink's Jisoo. And ohmigod Black Pink's comeback song is titled "Playing with Fire." IT'S FATE!)
