Mallory Douglas had been having horrible nightmares since she was 12. After the fire, for a year at least, she'd had trouble getting a good nights sleep, because the nightmares would wake her.
She'd struggled at school, dozing off during class, and her grades had started to reflect it. Her grandparents had finally pulled her out of public school, and started homeschooling her, so that at least she could earn her high school diploma.
But now, at 24, she felt like she hadn't accomplished much in her life. She had a job, and her own apartment. But the nightmares still came, every time she fell asleep. It would be fair to say that she'd gotten used to them, but there might be a little more to it than just that.
It might just have something to do with the sandman.
