Mara has a secret. She lives in the slums of a country called Regian, where she has lived for almost all her life. In Regian, no one can do much; there is a restriction on media, a curfew, and the leaders of Regian are known to hate the place neighboring them that they call “the Hinterlands”. The Regianites are led to believe that Regian is the best place in the world. Mara highly doubts this and is sick of this restricted environment. She longs for freedom.
One day her best friend Adelaide meets Thayer Vaclav, son of the president of Regian. This leads Mara through a series of events that begin to change her spiteful attitude towards rich kids and makes her doubt the true intentions of the government. Will Mara find out what they’re hiding? Or will she shy away in fear of them finding out her secret?

I have restarted this book. I wanted to make it easier to read and more enjoyable. I hope to make shorter chapters and update frequently. :) In the beginning Sylar has no name. No one cares. She's just another kid to fall into a system because she was an unwanted mess. A child that doesn't talk? Yea, no one care about that either. A shady group home filled with bullies and secrets? Yea, you guessed NO ONE CARES! To find friends in a place like this is unlikely. This place is built to feed off the fears of kids and their lack of parental role models. No one holds on to dreams for long in a place like this. You get placed here and you are as good as forgotten. Except when a couple shows up looking as out of place as an astronaut in a gold mine or a miner in space whichever one you prefer. This couple comes and shakes things up.
