Skysia has a very peculiar role in this story.
Orphaned as a child in the Fire Nation, Skysia was taken in by a secret organization that directly served the royal family in one way: by raising and training a singular consort for each of them. Marriage is only a social construct that joined the most prominent and important families in the Fire Nation to a continued political relationship with the royal family. From a young age, Skysia was tested and groomed to become the lifelong consort of one very banished prince. She is ultimately part of the crew that is guaranteed to the prince for his search for the Avatar, and their rocky relationship begins to find new ground in this thrilling retelling of an amazing story that shaped a generation.

When Makki, Zuko, and Iroh became fugitives from the Fire Nation and refugees inside the Earth Kingdom, Makki had no choice but to help the lost prince find his way onto the right path. But in the end, Makki will find that it's tougher work than she first anticipated, though, she figures out how to connect with the prince and may even develop feelings for him.
