"What they're like." I answered in almost a whisper. "Are they horrible people? Do we need to escape tonight? Go back to B-Dads? Or- or are they good people? Will they love us? Protect us? "No they're not horrible people. That's not the real reason I ran away from them."

Kendall Forge is a thirteen year old girl, who's abused by her parents. One day she heard them talking about having another child, so she made the decision to run away.  Along the way she meets a boy named Zach who had also run away from home.  Together they try to stay hidden, but when their names are on the news it makes it hard to.
