Harry is half Jewish half German or thats what his parents told him, It's not until his parents secret is revealed is when his life is ruined forever and he is on the run from everyone around him.
Its set in Hamburg, Germany in 1940, in this time the Holocaust was occurring and it was very dangerous for a Jewish person to be alive in this time.
