The Dypmørk Series
Private investigator Grayson Barrett travels to the little-known region of Dypmørk in Norway. Working alongside him is Elliot Garamond, a British immigrant well acquainted with Dypmørk, and Dr. Elizabeth Corday, a researcher at Svartmorgen University. While Mr. Barrett attempts to unravel the mystery of his very first case in Norway, he must also reckon with the unknowable forces long regarded as mere folklore. Ancient shadows whisper from the darkness of Dypmørk, threatening to drag him and his sanity into the abyss.

Short Story Series: "Fossegrim"
Synopsis: Detective Grayson Barrett arrives in the city of Svartmorgen, the unofficial capital city of the Dypmørk region of northern Norway. He has been contracted to solve what many consider to be a cold murder investigation, and the only assistance he has is Elliot Garamond, an usual and equally enigmatic British immigrant who moved to Dypmørk following World War II. In this first installment of the "Fossegrim" story line, Detective Barrett will learn the details of the case and explore the countryside of Dypmørk alongside Eli.

Short Story: "Spines"
While technically the first story chronologically written but the last in the plot, "Spines," a stand-alone short story in what is slowly becoming a series called "Dypmørk," is my first foray into not only detective/mystery stories, but also my own version of Lovecraftian literature. I am a major fan of H.P. Lovecraft, and wanted to try out his style for myself. I especially like his stories where the the horror appears real through the formatting--in this case, through letters and journal entries. I was generally pleased with how the story turned out.

Wandering had never been the best thing on many people's minds. Many people, especially young ones, like to wander around, however. They have high spirits, leap before looking, and generally see the world as fun to explore. Ones that do, so as well as disregard their personal values and aspirations, are generally seen as "lost". When the children all come home, none of them are lost. They see the bright daylight of tomorrow. They come home for dinner, sometimes for a quick snack, and get ready to set when they wander for next time. Although, some kids don't come back. That's not to say that they're gone. They're just lost. Lost in direction, travels, or just so happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Being lost does come and go through. If you're lost, you're gonna be found sooner or later. How much later, however, is another story. It all depends on where you stop and figure out that you're actually lost, and who is going to find you anyway. If you're unlucky, you might just have to wait to be found for a long time. Hope you brought a book. There was a teenage boy who went by the name Zubin, who had decided to traverse the raging blizzards of "The White Hell" on a voyage to another home. The reason is that it stands between him and a place where he could start over after his life in his hometown had been decimated by an unknown cause. The White Hell seems impossible to go across, and it shows in almost killing Zubin...if it wasn't for the introduction of a penetrating, soft, female voice. -------------------- The Three Mage Sisters and Hyness aren't mine and are part of the Kirby Series owned by HAL Laboratory and Nintendo, and come from the 2017 video game "Kirby Star Allies". Decades. He'd wasted decades of his life doing what? Chasing the minuscule sparks of passion to ease the aching void in his chest? Wasn't there something better? Someone to guide him away from the misery? Distract him from the life he couldn't escape from? There were days he didn't know which way was up and where the sea began. Where the skies collided with the dirt and delved into the inferno of the hells. The whispers of creatures that should have had no interest in a mortal caressing the shell of his ears. Beings he believed to be just as mortal as himself and if one observed their flaws they might have been. Walking the city grounds and sailing the oceans as easily as anyone. Blockades of fire and ice prevented their hands from intertwining. Now he balanced atop the wall. Grabbing both with shaky arms and keeping them close. Please don't leave. Fangs and claws used to claim him. Gentle kisses and caresses to calm him. Breathless words pulled him deeper into the madness. Further into inky darkness speckled with blinding light. Granting him everything he never knew he'd wanted. A dream come reality. Strange how love could spark from pain. How fickle. And how much he only wanted more. UNFINISHED ______ Y/N was released from the asylum 1 year ago, she was there since she was 13, she's now 20. It was hard at first to live in an ordinary lifestyle but she got used to it. But now that the most wanted serial killer "Issac Foster" breaks into her house, what will happen to the ordinary life she now had? Will Zack be a threat to her, a friend, or something more... ________ "I have my reasons for keeping you alive... I had my reasons yesterday, today those reasons don't apply." "Well listen up Mr. Red Eyes, this is my house so I don't need to answer any of your questions, and once again, please be careful holding your scythe so carelessly, you already broke a window." I go to the cabinet and take out the only box of cereal left and a bowl. I'm running out of food, I'll have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. Now, all I need is some milk. I face the refrigerator and take out the milk. As I walk around the kitchen preparing my cereal I can feel the boy's eyes following me around the room. "I don't get you, you're so weird." "Oh so I'm the weird one, your the one who broke into my house. Twice." I pull the drawer open and take out a spoon. Shit. I dropped it. I bend down to grab it, the problem is that I forgot I'm wearing a robe. A short robe. "Hey kitty, I'm seeing way more skin than I need to." My face begins to heat up. I turn my head to the side at the right angle so he won't see the blushing mess I am right now. Good thing I put on shorts. "You shouldn't be worried about me seeing some skin, afterall, I'm not a pervert, I'm a serial killer. And for some reason you don't seem as concerned about that than you should." ___________________________ (This story takes place before Zack met Rachel) *Characters aren't mine, credits to J.C.Staff/Makoto Sanada, hope you enjoy the story, once again credits to the original creators*

There is an unexpected turn in the story that drastically changes the course of events and, in the long run, even the lives of those involved. Magpie, the first to be involved, suddenly finds himself in the world so unlike his own. Will he find his place there or will he be at least able to go back home? He seems to find his way back from this new world of giga-dimensions but something unwanted happens, and things go worse. The cultural differences, together with a challenging personality traits of another involved in the events, suck Magpie and his friends into a downward spiral. The story challenges you to see the world differently from the perspective you are perhaps too used to and narrowed by. Life can be an adventure if you don't narrow it with a bigotry that forces you to be rooted in your trenches and behind your dividing walls. This doesn't mean you have to accept others' views without standing your ground. However, to be able to share our lives in this one and only world we need to make compromises, on both sides. Are you the first brave one to set this positive trend in motion? So read on and let the foundation of the story be laid. From the end of episode 1 on, the story really picks up, finally reaching its climax at the end of episode 3 with quite a surprising finish. Your participation in solving this shared challenge of coexistence and cooperation is highly appreciated. Remember those who cooperate make more progress than those who don't! The ideal audience for my first book is actually between 12 and 16, but anybody older and interested in adventures, cultures and in getting more understanding into our multifaceted world is sure to enjoy the story. (The whole story has now been published, the only thing I'll still add is the final epilogue but the story is already available in its entirety.)
