"J" is  the only trans kid in Liberty. He's never told anyone because he knows what might happen if he does. He lives in one of the most religious towns in North Carolina and his dad is a deadbeat drunk. When J gets paired up for a school project with Grace, the pastors daughter, his world gets turned upside down. Grace has a few secrets of her own, and as J and Grace spend more time together all of their secrets reveal, as well as their feelings for each other.
