Matthew and Sally Glover are two siblings who have lost their father to war. Their mother, Anna, has fallen into a deep depression ever since then, and has been struggling to make ends meet. While attempting to get Anna a gift for her upcoming birthday, the siblings stumble upon an ancient ruby that transports them to a far-off medieval land, where the evil Lord Ravenswood covets said ruby in order to awaken the Dragon of the Ancients and lay siege to the village of Bradenshire. Now, they, along with newfound ally Prince Tobias, must set out to stop Ravenswood and return to their own world.
