I'm going from year 1 to the battle of Hogwarts so the romance is obviously going to be a slow burn ;) It's childhood enemies to lovers (or whatever I end it as👀). I have a lot of years to play with so their friendship/romance is going to go through a lot. ALSO REMEMBER THE CHARCTERS ARE JUST KIDS. Especially in the first few years. So let's not be weird. I'M GOING TO START EDITING THIS PROBABLY. If you go to Our Lady of the Black Veil Academy, chances are you know the names Cass Landry, Rebecca Lovelace, and Mallory Meksawan. Cass Landry being the mysterious new girl with a tendency to practice magic illegally, Rebecca being notorious for lighting up every room she walks into, and Mallory being the second in command it-girl of Black Veil, as famed as she is feared. After a magical attempt to escape detention goes terribly, horribly wrong and their ethics teacher winds up dead (ironic, they know), Cass must band together with Rebecca, the girl she "totally doesn't like", and Mallory, another girl she doesn't like (but like...for real this time) to find a spell that can bring their teacher back to life before her situation becomes permanent. A spell of this caliber, however, requires that they venture into the underground world of their picturesque town, striking a deal with a powerful gang leader that not only raises the stakes, but gives them an even tighter timeline. And though as a witch Cass has personal experience with life and death, the pressure that she's facing now might just be too tough to handle. Luckily, she's not alone. The Search for the Eoz Potion explores the reasons why people will sometimes upend their lives and put themselves in harm's way in order to provide a better life for others. At its heart, this is a story about friendship and the power of sacrifice. In enduring all of these trials to help their friend, Hailey and Claire learn to trust each other and develop a confidence they didn't know they could find. This book was written as a project with my kids who were 10, 9, and 5 at the time. I had the basic idea and they filled in the details with things they thought would be interesting and exciting. I then tried to fit it all together into one story. The result is The Search for the Eoz Potion. They learnt from a young age no one that means NO ONE can know about their powers even their parents and other siblings. It brings out the true friends and those who just want to use you. In the end, what do you do when your closest friend betrays you? This is the story as they try to keep their biggest darkest secret of what they are capable of and as they discover they're not the only ones like them... I am not very good at trigger warnings before individual chapters but there is mention of blood, cold abuse and parents divorcing. (But read at your own risk in case I mention something else.
