"Hey, dollface," a voice shouted from behind me. I gritted my teeth and pretended not to hear, hoping they'd lose interest and leave me alone. But it was a futile attempt.

"Hey, Dollface!" the voice yelled again.

I quickened my pace, almost reaching the school entrance when a rough hand yanked my ponytail, forcing me to halt. "I know you hear us, that's the second time you've been a bad girl," Gabriel growled in my ear, his hot breath sending shivers down my spine.

Fear and anxiety twisted my stomach into knots as he pushed me into the waiting arms of his friends. They grasped me firmly, holding me in place. "Please, I didn't see anything," I lied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the tremble. "I was just out for a morning walk."

Heath sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. "We don't believe you. We want to know what you saw."

This is the beginning of Mia Cassidy's story, a reserved teenager whose life is turned upside down when she moves to the city. Struggling to fit in, she's bullied at school for being a geek. But things take a dark turn when she stumbles upon a murder scene.

She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. "I didn't ask to be in the middle of your ego-battle," I grumble. Blake pins me to my locker, hands resting on either side of my head. "Well, you got it in anyway, Darling," he whispers. His face is inches away from mine and damn me for licking my lips. I am NOT falling for these guys. And then, at the corner of my eye I spot Owen and his gang approaching. Well, that's just great. *** The West and East gang of Tygerwell have been at each other's throats since the dawn of time. And the two leaders of these gangs want to end the fight, once and for all. But fighting with fists is easy. Fighting with wit and charm, is a whole other ball game. Blake. West-side gang leader. Leather jacket and killer glare. Don't talk back. Owen. East-side gang leader. Fancy coat and toxic stare. Don't resist. And in comes Amber. Hair of gold and oceans in her eyes. Has too much sass for her own good and always, ALWAYS, manages to get into the middle of trouble. But these boys have no idea who they're really dealing with. And when Amber descovers she knows a little too much when it comes to guns and fighting, she has to question everything she thought she knew about herself. Three can play this game. *** "Let's settle this. You got rejected, I got rejected. It's only fair that the fate of the gangs be on who gets the girl first." "That sounds rather good, Rhodes. I'll take that bet on the golden girl." *** COMPLETED FICTION AWARDS: Best new story and best new account Highest ranking in Teen Fiction: #1 on 25/06/2018
