In a world where people are either angels or devils, two boys don't fit the standard to what they were assigned to. Clay, who's an angel, finds himself feeling a little less than gentle at all times - and George, a devil, doesn't understand how everyone of his kind could be so cruel all the time. The last thing either of them wants is to be found out, and be seen as outcasts for not being what everyone expects them to be and be demoted to the lower class, disrespected and segregated from everyone else.
When they meet, knowing they aren't alone is a relief. But both of them know that being with the other kind is treason.
