The only memory Cahir has of his mother is her telling him a bedtime story: a long forgotten myth of a diadem studded with four jewels holding all the world's power. What she didn't tell him, was that she stole one.
The small town overlooked by their Queen's mountains hasn't heard of this story in years, and surely was never meant to. Her castle sits boldly in between the valley and whatever lay beyond it, holding reels of terror upon the lowlanders.
