Phoenix Brown isn't scared of bugs -- except the ones that are four-feet tall. When he meets the esteemed scientist Dr. Rankin, Phoenix is convinced: The future of food is actually ... giant insects! But when he discovers a dark secret, Phoenix finds himself with an oversized problem: Only he can Save the World. Along with his new wife, Skye, he must fight a battle of prehistoric proportions -- or be turned into bug bait. With humanity's survival at stake, Phoenix must decide: Will he confront his demons, or be consumed by them? ------------------------ THE BACKSTORY ------------------------ This summer I took a vacation to Mexico with my girlfriend. Moments after we arrived, I noticed a mosquito buzzing around the hotel room. I freaked out. *Those things carry all kinds of diseases*, I thought. Without hesitation, my girlfriend picked up a flip-flop and squashed it on the floor. SPLAT. Blood went everywhere. Other people's blood. She was unfazed. "Don't be a chicken," she said, mopping up the mess. Then we tucked into the hotel's free snacks -- nuts, guacamole and grasshoppers. "That's disgusting," my girlfriend said as I chowed down on the insects. "Oh, *this* is disgusting," I said, shaking my head. We're talking about a girl who will scream bloody murder if she sees a spider the size of a poppy seed. And yet mosquitos aren't scary? Not one bit? In fact, mosquitos are the deadliest creature on the planet -- what would happen, I wondered, if people actually FEARED them? What if they were ... BIGGER? Badder? More deadly? Then I stumbled across a Reddit thread that detailed a shocking scientific experiment. And, well, THE MOSQUITO was born ... PS. This is the first story I have ever written! I'd love your feedback on what you like -- and what you don't like. Heck, I don't even know how to use punctation yet! My dream is to become a full-time author, but I've never had the confidence to actually try. So, here goes! :)
