I find that a lot of the stories including the ATLA universe tend to follow the story to a T.(Not against it I have a lot of those in my library). My story follows along to it loosely and has more moments where I can insert some creative freedom. You will be there in the universe, but it will not be a carbon copy of the episodes. You're merely coasting along the sidelines of the storyline. It'll all make sense when you read it ;)

Kiyan never expected to be the Avatar. And now that she is, she's finding she never even wanted to be. She's used to her old life as a simple waterbender, with no great spiritual burdens or destinies or whatever nonsense this Avatar business has suddenly forced on her. Raised in the heart of the Fire Nation, she grows close to the young crown prince and accompanies him and Iroh on their adventures. ________________________________________________________________________________ **This is an old story I had written in my head years ago when the series was still on Nickelodeon, and most of what I had originally written out was dialogue, so I apologize for any lack of detail or imagery-I don't have much time to devote to it as I'd like. I've read quite a few fanfic stories out there and this one isn't very good in comparison, but I'll post it for others who might find it entertaining--it was certainly entertaining to write. Also, I understand a lot of readers don't like stories that follow canon. This one does follow the show for the most part, but eventually digresses, follows, and digresses again. The team has to stay hidden incase someone sees Aang's arrows or Aya's wings. It won't be easy, but things have never been easy for Team Avatar. Aang believes he has to save the world on his own, but he isn't alone, he has his Fire Angel at his side. The Avatar and Fire Angel are not only destined to be with each other but are destined to save the world together. Allies will become enemies and enemies will become allies. With in desperate need of a firebending teacher, Zuko throws away the need of capturing the Avatar and instead assists him in saving the world and teaching him firebending. After almost a year of traveling, fighting, friendship, love, anger, and heartbreak it's time for Team Avatar to save the world and bring peace back to it.
