Preface
How are you? I'm fine and you. "I'm fine" that was what you should always say when asked how are you. That's the common courtesy we were taught as children. No stranger really cared or wanted to know about your well-being. They didn't care that you may be depressed and faking a smile just to get by. They didn't care that a close family member or friend was sick and possibly on the brink of death. They didn't care that you barely had food to fed you and your family. They didn't care, but that is the world we live in. Uncaring and cold. So I'm fine was what we said and we moved on faking a smile...that never reaches our eyes.

They tell me that the road to recovery feels like a terrible butt fuck, but the fact that you're on the path to begin with, is all that matters. So as I sit in this circle of fuck ups, I realize just how different I am from them. I didn't attempt suicide because my mother was a crack addict who didn't want me. My father wasn't abusive. I didn't have a sibling die in a car accident. I was never really bullied either. I attempted suicide because, for the first time in years, I thought I had found something that could make me feel again... and after not feeling much at all for far too long, perhaps I went a bit overboard
