21-year-old Sophia Hagias is a Holy Sister for the Church of the Cosmos, with one duty and one along--arrest and assassinate sorcerers. But she also has a secret: she is a child of Lilith. When a mission goes wrong and she can no longer perform her duties as a Holy Sister, she finds herself on the other end of the Church's cruel judgement. Sophia is given a choice: die or infiltrate Ira Accidia--the home of Lucifer and steal back a book that will allow the Church to take back the other realms of hell. Sophia chooses the latter and infiltrates Lucifer's court as a "gift" to them by the Church. As their courtesan, she's bound by their dark court and the wicked rules. But she also finds another side of Lucifer and another side of herself. One that craves something... else. The Marian Cycle is a first person, present tense story filled with deadpan quips. For adults and part of my writing exercises. Any critiques are welcome as I'm still trying to hone my skill.

"Privacy is only temporary between you and me." *** At four years old, Sophia was spared the fate that befell the rest of her family. The daughter of the beta to a pack that had fallen, she should have been killed. Being within five years of age to the Heir Alpha for the conquering pack, she was allowed to live with the understanding that when the time came, she would provide the next generation of Alpha to him. The rules are clear on how to treat breeders, but Alpha Dominic never wanted just a breeder. The more freedom he gives Sophia, the greater the risk to her well-being. Without freedom, would she ever be able to choose him? And without a choice, could she ever love him? Neither are comfortable with the traditional expectations of their roles, but are they better off deviating from the norm? When given the chance, would she surrender her duty to Alpha Dominic to become a full-fledged mate to someone else? Word count: 80,000
