Fact: Sometime during the 1920s, the British crime writer Agatha Christie went missing for ten days. Eventually turning up at an hotel in Harrogate. After being questioned by doctors, she genuinely didn't know where she'd been.
Fiction: Suppose HG Wells was a woman not a man. Suppose the Time Machine was not a novel but an instruction manual?
Now, mash those two together add in a dead archaeologist looking for an Ancient Egyptian artifact. And you get my latest story: The Fifth Beetle!

I have rewritten chapters Four and Five, so that a comprehensive and more malleable comprehension of the philosophy of the science and argument, along with the plausibility that assists the reader greatly. Back and Forth is set in 2040 and 1065-66. The disappearance of a misjudged maverick scientist in 1966; his derelict home; its purchase and full renovation brought the discovery of a clandestine laboratory and, what turned out to be a prototype Time-Machine, found in a hidden cellar. Like an out of control roller coaster my mind was racing. With this golden opportunity thrust into my hand. The time was ripe to do something about the battle at Hastings. Could this humiliation England suffered 974 years previous be reversed? The opportunity would never come again and, it was up to me to set forth and meddle with history. England shall never be invaded and lost again. Secretly, I gather scientists, engineers and close friends to advise and devise ways and means to bring about the reversal of this most ignominious defeat. Would King Harold accept help from these angels? Or are we to him, Satan's demons? What happens next? Will these Wizards from the 21st Century bring England out of the Iron Age into a peaceful, happy and enlightened environment? Will an oppressive continental regime continue to rule this land, and, if so, how could this situation be reversed? For good or evil, we must see what happens.Complete

She appeared to have knowledge of her daughter's past life! Charlotte tries to solve the mystery of her daughter's death and the peculiar girl. She gets trapped in a morbid time machine which travels her to 1945, the year on her daughter's death, to try to save her from the events. Could this all be a coincidence or just some weird hoax? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone has there own secrets. Some are dark and morbid, even when everyone in your town talks about it. You swore to secrecy that they wouldn't tattle, but you sometimes can't trust them, even if something goes terribly wrong that the truth has to be uncovered.... Warning: contains violence in some scenes. I have no interest or intention in actually killing someone or something. Samantha is down on her luck, stuck within a deep rooted financial crisis. Living with her two best friends Louise and Marcus who are giving up on any help with rent money or living costs. Sadly Samantha cannot work due to health reasons and has struggled with her mentality ever since getting extremely unwell with an incurable illness. Although she is not terminal she is destined for a very slow life without much time to recover between bouts of heavy depression and illness. This bad luck seems to change when she discovers a rare artifact shimmering on the streets of London during yet another attempt at finding a job. When she is let down gently by the management, she steps outside to find a very strange item that is shining brightly at her feet. Upon inspection she notices there is a very ornate pattern on it. Putting it into her pocket she moves on and looks for a way home not thinking much more on it. Out of the blue an old lady turns up at her door and asks for the object back warning her of the bad luck it has. Samantha kindly goes to fetch it, hands it over and only when she closes the door does she wonder just how this lady has found her home? Upon telling Louise and Marcus she is laughed out the room and disbelieved. However, when one of them notices something very unpredictable happening within their room they start to very quickly believe in what Samantha was saying!Complete
