Malia Baker, a seventeen-year-old teenager, eagerly awaits the arrival of her old friend Ruby Turner. Upon their reunion, Malia learns that Ruby now has another best friend, also an old acquaintance. However, Malia isn't thrilled about the idea of them being best friends.
Her boyfriend, Bryce Ghasier, is also not happy with this old acquaintance, Kylie Cantrall. It seems they've had a rivalry for a while, and Bryce is jealous of Malia starting to spend more time with Ruby and Kylie than with him.
Malia lives alone with her father, with whom she has a great relationship. However, they rarely see each other since he works full-time.
Kylie Cantrall, an nineteen-year-old teenager, accompanies her friend Ruby Turner back to the old hometown they both share. Kylie already has a reputation for being a total rebel. Everyone at the local police station knows her since she used to spend most of her time there.
Kylie's parents are never in the city. In fact, they don't even live there anymore. They left Kylie behind when they decided to return to their native country, Venezuela. However, Kylie had important projects, such as her career as a singer, which she wasn't willing to abandon overnight. Now, it's just her and Ruby Rose Turner, who she never leaves behind. Soon, Kylie realizes she doesn't want to let go of Ruby's best friend, Malia Baker, either.
Kylie begins to develop feelings for Malia, but everything seems to be against her: Malia has a boyfriend, she despises Kylie, believes she's a bad person, and then there's the whole issue with their parents.
