In an alternate universe where everyone is supposed find/meet their true soulmate between the ages of 16-20: Shannie Fisher, a rather shy and unique 16-year-old girl, longs for knowing what romantic affection feels like and if true love and soulmates are actually real. Neither Shannie nor her best friend Lynn have found their soulmates yet, but Lynn claims to have already felt a spark with her current love interest, Logan. Shannie doubts this is true. There few people their age around them searching or already finding their soulmate, but most kids don't care about their soulmates and just choose to experience everything having boyfriends and girlfriends.  You and your soulmate are supposed to feel a spark and connection in various types circumstances which end up indicating if you both are actually soulmates. Shannie decides to expand her social life in order to experience her youth a bit more and in hopes that maybe she'll find someone to share her passions, secrets, and ideas with, her soulmate. A new experience.  She encounters a boy, Marcel Holt, a 17-year-old boy who dreams of a bright musical future and starts to connect with Shannie. Shannie starts to get convinced that Marcel is a distinctive and special individual.  Is he Shannie's true soulmate? How much can they learn from each other?
